Consumer all have different needs and demand that to be suited. A person need change frequently. An important factor to take into consideration when thinking of  consumer need is the key demographic of the customer. Gender, age, income, and even profession can help a company better understand the need of their customer. often consumer need to be told what they want. Fashion companies had to their research to ensure they know their customer need before develop solution. Steve jobs said, you have got to start with the customer experience and work background to the technology. You cannot start with the technology and try to figure out where you are technology. You cannot start with the technology and try to figure out where you are going to sell it. There are two research method primary and secondary. Method are taking other information that has already been collected, for example using a book or an article for research. Primary research is collecting data through survey, interview, observation, and focus groups. A woman who is pregnantcould be looking for diapers, baby stroller, and maternity cloth. Her need would differ greatly from a woman with children that just went off to college or a teen entering high school.

Benefits of primary research is specific information about a fashion brand consumer is explored. Survey are helpful tool, question can be open ended or closed ended. A negative factor survey or on face to face interaction. Focus groupabout 8 to 12 people, can be beneficial because several point can be addressed in depth. However there are drawback to this tactic, too. with such a small sample size, it is hard to know if the grater pubic would react the same way as the focus group.

Through observation pattern can be seen, help trend forecasters know what there target market needs and wants. through research and studying the consumer live the need of the customer can be obtained and help fashion brandsknow what trend the consumer.
